Decided to sell my Mitsubishi 3000 GT 3000 VR 4. A very high performance car that I am frankly a bit old for getting in and out of. Age...who cares for it. The car is very fast and there is a group of people out there that love the style and technology it has. Ahead of it's time back in 91, this car turned people's heads. Still does...and the cops love it for the tickets you get for speeding. The car begs for going fast. Wish we had the Bundesautobahn-The German autobahns are famous for being some of the few public roads in the world without blanket speed limits for cars and motorcycles. There are places out on I-10 in West Texas that one can open it up at the risk of a heavy ticket. I plead the 5th on the highest speed I have driven this car at...but suffice to say it is intoxicating the power it has.

So...as a good bye tribute to this wonderful car...I decided to hook up with a couple of friends and go to a quiet road to shoot some images of the car with beautiful light. We used a pickup as a lead vehicle with flashes mounted on it to light the car up, then some static shots. Driving ones and the next day I did some details that make this car unique in it's design. Missed taking pictures due to the weird hot and cold weather in Austin. Caught a terrible cough that really brings you back to basics...health is wealth.

I had a wonderful opportunity to attend the 20th Annual Austin Powwow and American Indian Heritage Festival on Sat. November 5, 2011.
I had been there several years ago and was not able to do justice to the beautiful American Indian regalia. Using the latest technology in wireless strobes I set up a makeshift studio and asked the participantes to stop for a moment to capture these terrific images. I used two SB800 strobes triggered by my D300.

Smithville Texas...invited photographers to come to their town and have fun with photography.

This year Smithville once again invites anybody with a camera to photograph different subjects around town. From Old cars to old railroad cars along with models. "How to" workshops, food, people from around the area taking pictures in a overcast and wet day. The rain broke long enough to get some nice shots. Here's is a small sample of mine.

Another great opportunity to photograph some musicians. We got part of the band called Dirty Wormz, a rap band who's singer and artist is Smackola. Full of energy and ready to give himself to us as photographers took frame after frame of him performing for us. Here some samples of that session.

Great Scott Kelby's Worldwide photo walk on Saturday October 1, 2011

I lead a walk at 7AM Saturday morning of 46 photographers through East Austin as part of Scott Kelby's Worldwide photo walk event. 1129 walks going on around the world on Saturday and Sunday with 28004 photographers capturing images. After a 3 hour walk, we ended up at the Nuevo Leon Restaurant that hosted us in their private banquet dinning room. Here we had a chance to share our experiences of the walk and "chimping" (term used to describe one photographer showing off images on the back of his camera). Some of us had some of the delicious food while my fellow photo walker Kirk Stewart and I downloaded what each photographer considered to be their best image for a show and tell. There was a bit of a struggle with the technical side of this because of all the formats that exist. However...we managed and enjoyed projecting the images on a screen to share with all of those present. Here are some of my fav's from the walk. Thank you to all.

At Juju's FotoFactory in East Austin this weekend I had a chance to do a workshop for several photographers interested in learning how to shoot in a Pro Studio with good lights and equipment. We were very lucky that one of the participants was the Mother of a young man (3 years old) that was having his weekend birthday. He was absolutely wonderful and cooperative. Here's one of my favorites.

An all month event call Foto septiembre is held annually in San Antonio, Texas of photography from around the world. Many galleries, private building and spaces share a common goal to provide a place to hang photography from a vast number of photographers. Using my birthday as an excuse to spend two days down there with my dear wife, we were able to explore a few of the artist on exhibit. From this, I was inspired to create the following images. Enjoy. On the actual day of the photowalk, I will not take my camera so that I may dedicate time to people that need help with their settings.

Yes...finally the August has come and gone until next year. Went out early this morning with my dog walking friend Zuzanna who brought along her camera D5000. Ended up exploring a new trail and here are some of the images from that walk. We ran into a rattle snake..but was not really interested in getting close to him...it actually was my doggie who found him...he did his rattle thing. Got our heart beats up!

Tonight Thursday I had the opportunity to try something new and different. Photographing fire spinners at a local coffeeshop. Used 3 remote flashes to put light around the artist. Tricky..but fun to try something new. Here are some samples of the more interesting ones.

Adam Stewart & Arthur Sillers, members of the band called Ordinary People. Had a chance to photograph them at Monica's studio in East Austin. Very nice setup and get time trying out some ideas. I had not shot in a studio for at least 15 years. Miss it very much.

Make-A-Wish Foundation and Over the Edge Event

My usual goofy pose after 9.5 hours in the sun on the 32nd floor of the One American Center on 6th and Congress Ave in Austin, Texas. Make-A-Wish and Over the Edge teamed together to raise money for Make-A-Wish. See site here:

I photographed the folks that raised more than $1500 for the foundation as they climbed over the edge of the 32nd floor to rappel down to the 5th floor. Many people were able to take this off their bucket list. The Over the Edge people were outstanding group with safety as their main concern using the best of the best equipment to keep the participants safe and happy. Here are a few of the other shots of this event.

Danskin 2011 Women's Triathlon

This past weekend, on June 5th, I had another chance to photograph a sporting event for Brightroom. I was assigned to the bike ride out and the run on the course. Once the last runner went by, I headed to the finish line and took a few images of the last runners coming in. Here is a taste of what Texas women are all about under the hot, hot Austin sun. I tip my hat to them for their power.

Another successful Danskin 2011 Triathlon of 1200 women swimming, biking and running in blistering hot sun. Kudos to all that finished the race and those that tried. At the end of the race, there is a fantastic group of runners that cheer on the last women to come in. Very supportive. They are the hero's for getting off the couch and trying something that makes a difference in their lifes and that of their families.

Street scene in San Franciso. Ever wondered how many times you have been in somebodies photograph or video that you were not aware you were being imaged? It is said that you are video taped in London 300 times with their Closed circuit cameras just walking around on their streets. This is an update version of the image I had before. I had friend suggest that I take two people out of the left side of the frame to make it stronger...and I agreed.
